True community transformation is a journey. A long-term investment. A difficult but not impossible task that requires collaboration, resources and vision—and most important, the community at the heart of the work.
Our communities show visible signs of distress from years of disinvestment and the recent rash of foreclosures remain: vacant lots, abandoned buildings, empty storefronts. Elements that naturally foster connections and build neighborhood pride—sports leagues, softball fields, an arts district—are woefully lacking. Despite these challenges, we know our communities can be rebuilt and succeed.
The Arthur M. Brazier Foundation: Commitment. Resolve. Passion. Inspiration. Experience. Know-how. Relationships. Partners. Public support. Community momentum. A clear vision for a self-sustaining community.
Our efforts start in Woodlawn and will resonate to the surrounding communities.
